Bücher, die es unbedingt in deutscher Übersetzung geben sollte

    Bei den beiden folgenden Büchern ist eine deutsche Übersetzung noch nicht von vorneherein ausgeschlossen, jeweils der erste Roman der beiden Autorinnen ist schon auf Deutsch erschienen. Mir haben die jeweiligen Erstlinge sehr gut gefallen und ich würde mich über die Übersetzung dieser beiden sicher riesig freuen bzw. überlege schon seit langem über die Anschaffung der englischen Ausgaben.

    Ich würde mir die noch nicht übersetzten Bücher von Wolff, Salter und Yates in deutscher Sprache wünschen. Darüberhinaus wäre auch eine Übersetzung von Lush Life toll. Eine Übersetzung von Roberto Bolanos 2666 wäre auch klasse!

    Was ich schon immer mal sagen wollte: Es ist sooo schlimm, dass der Potter weg ist! Ich brauche Ersatz *dramatischschnief*. Die Welt, nein Deutschland, braucht eine Übersetzung zu diesem Buch [SIZE=7](und seinen Folgebänden)[/SIZE].

    Olive Thomas - The Life and Death of a Silent Beauty


    Die leider einzige Biografie über die Schauspielerin Olive Thomas (1894-1920).


    Sollte schon deshalb übersetzt werden, weil es so wenig Informationen über diesen einstigen Superstar der frühen Silver Screen gibt und sich auch ihre Geschichte durch reißerische Häppchen-Infos wie in Kenneth Angers "Hollywood Babylon" verfälscht und eindimensional in den Köpfen der Leute festsetzt.


    Diese Biografie ist zwar nicht so detailliert wie z.B. Biografien von Barry Paris oder Donald Spoto, holt aber trotz des Umstandes, dass Olive Thomas' Welt schon so lange zurückliegt und sie nur 25 Jahre alt wurde, eine Menge an den Tag.

    Das klingt ja echt gut. Ich glaub ich muss mir mal die englische Ausgaben besorgen.

    Aus der Reihe "Skilgannon the damned" von David Gemmel ist Band 1 "White Wolf" bereits seit 2003 in deutsch erhältlich.
    Band 2 "The Swords Of Night And Day" ist 2004 in englisch erschienen, aber bisher leider noch nicht in deutsch.
    Hab es zwar in Englisch gelesen, aber ich kenne viele David Gemmel- Fans, die es nun doch auch endlich (in deutsch) lesen wollen.
    Naja, hoffentlich tut sich da bald was.

    Erst 4 der mittlerweile 8 Bände der "Roman Legion" -Serie von Simon Scarrow sind auf deutsch erhältlich.
    Finde die Bücher unheimlich spannend geschrieben.
    Habe mich bisher nie für das römische Reich zur Zeit der Cäsaren interessiert. Doch diese Serie hat das alles grundlegend geändert!
    Habe die englische Version gelesen und war BEGEISTERT.
    Finde es darum sehr schade, daß den deutschen Lesern die übrigen 4 Bände vorenthalten sind.
    Das ändert sich hoffentlich bald! :grin

    Da fällt mir spontan Infinite Jest von David Foster Wallace ein. Schon 1996 erschienen, aber erst Ende August diesen Jahres wird die deutsche Übersetzung bei Kiepenheuer erscheinen. Die deutsche Fassung hat knapp über 1500 Seiten, vielleicht hat sich deshalb lange keiner an die Übersetzung getraut. :gruebel

    Verkaufsrang 17568 - obwohl es noch nicht erschienen ist. Da verstehe einer amazon... :gruebel


    Edit sagt gerade, es sei schon erschienen...ok, aber wer kauft dieses Zusatzbüchlein, wenn das übersetzte Buch, auf das es sich bezieht, erst im August erscheint?

    Stimmt, Du hast recht. Ich lese von ihm gerade "Der Besen im System", das Buch ist wirklich ungewöhnlich und abgedreht, hat aber "nur" 600 Seiten. Ob ich mich an über 1600 Seiten David Foster Wallace herantraue? :gruebel Reizen würde es mich ja, aber was für ein Wälzer :wow

    Ich würde mir wünschen, dass alle fünf Bäde mit dem Buchhänder-Ermittler Cliff Janeway von John Dunning übersetzt werden. Bis jetzt ist nur der dritte Teil übersetzt, anfangen könnte man ja aber mal mit dem ersten Teil :grin
