German spoken word poet and slam poetry champion Nora Gomringer will perform in English and German at the University of Calgary! Hear German like you probably never imagined, and English from a fresh perspective!

Ms. Gomringer’s performances have received international attention and wide acclaim. Her uncompromising and innovative way of interacting with her audience makes her stand out as one of the best recitalists of her generation. She performs in a style that mixes traditional poetry and dynamic experimental forms.
Nora Gomringer is one of the leading Slam Poetry Performers in Germany. She was voted Best Female German Performance Poet in 2004 and has also won many literary awards. She has presented at numerous literary festivals in Germany and internationally. Her publications include four anthologies of poetry and short stories and she is presently working on her first novel.
Presented by the Department of Germanic, Slavic and East Asian Studies and the Language Research Centre at the University of Calgary in partnership with the Goethe-Institut, Toronto.
