Da hier eine (weibliche) Eule gerade nach fluffigen Geschichten sucht, habe ich mal in meinem Langzeitgedächtnis gekramt und noch ein paar sehr nette Bücher gefunden, die ich vor langer langer Zeit gelesen habe ...

Christian McLaughlin - Sex Toys of the Gods

Chris Kenry - Can't Buy Me Love

Chris Kenry - Uncle Max

Mir hat der erste Teil sehr gut gefallen. Der Krimi war spannend und die Lösung nicht unbedingt vorherzusehen, die Hauptfigur ist sympathisch, die Szenerie in Kanada abwechslungsreich und der Schreibstil solide professionell. Sehr empfehlenswert!!

Auf dem Klappentext wird ja der Vergleich mit Armistead Maupin angestellt, aber da ich die Reihe immer noch nicht gelesen habe, kann ich dazu leider nichts sagen *schäm*

Ach ja, für Hundefreunde: Russell hat einen Schnauzer namens Barbra (genau, wie die Streisand :grin).

Den sechsten Teil habe ich heute beendet und das sind so richtige Wohlfühlkrimis. Dieser Teil spielte - wie schon der Titel vermuten lässt - teilweise auf Hawaii und der Vielleser dieses Genre trifft einen alten Bekannten: Detective Kimo Kanapa'aka.

In diesem Teil spielte auch Russell Quants Privatleben eine etwas größere Rolle und ich hoffe, ich verrate nicht zu viel, aber wer gerne ein Happy End liest, ist hier genau richtig.

Bodycheck - Rolf Redlin

Manfred fährt LKW für einen Baumarkt, bringt hundert Kilo Muskelmasse auf die Waage und joggt lieber um den See, als in der Szene abzuhängen. Er mag es bodenständig. Als er seine Mutter in einem winzigen Kaff in Mecklenburg besucht, lernt er dort Toralf kennen, einen Dachdecker, der seine Freizeit mit Bodybuilding und tiefergelegten Autos verbringt. Toralf ist verblüfft, dass auch ganz normale Kerle schwul sein können, und zwischen den beiden bahnt sich etwas an.

Mir hat diese Sammlung mit Essays zum o.g. Thema überraschenderweise gut gefallen. Ich habe die Essays über einen längeren Zeitraum gelesen, immer mal wieder ein paar und so war das Thema dann wohldosiert. Die Autoren und Essays waren gut ausgesucht, die meisten gut geschrieben und die Themen vielfältig.

Ich habe mittlerweile auch den siebten Teil gelesen, muss aber gestehen, dass ich ihn etwas schwach fand. Gut, ich bin im Moment etwas Buch-lese-unlustiert, aber irgendwie fand ich die Prämisse an den Haaren herbeigezogen (die Handlung spielte in Dubai/Abu Dhabi/ Saudiarabien etc) und auch den privaten Russell Quant fand ich nervig, nölig, kindisch.
Naja, man kann es trotzdem gut zwischendurch lesen und ich vermute mal, es wird auch einen achten Teil geben, dann geht's vielleicht wieder aufwärts.

Ich glaube, das hier wurde noch nicht genannt. Ich habs vor ein paar Jahren zufällig bei amazon entdeckt und gelesen - hat mir wirklich gut gefallen, auch wenns nicht gerade leichte Lektuere war. Das Englisch ging, bins aber auch gewöhnt, wobei die irischen Ausdruecke wirklich nicht gerade leicht verständlich waren...

"At Swim, Two Boys" habe ich einige Male hier im Forum erwähnt, habe ich das in diesem Thread nicht genannt? Ich liebe dieses Buch!

Ich habe es auch auf Englisch gelesen, in der Tat muss man sich erst ein bisschen einlesen und an das Irische gewöhnen, Ausdrücke und Slang, aber nach einer Weile geht es gut.

Es gibt auch eine deutsche Übersetzung, die ist aber leider out of print und nur noch gebraucht zu kaufen.

Auch wenn ich sonst nichts aus dem hier thematisierten Bereich lese, hier noch ein Buch, das von der Beziehung zweier Männer erzählt:

Das ist ja mal ein interessantes Thema - aber seltsam, daß in den letzten Postings ausschließlich auf englischsprachige Bücher abgezielt wurde?!

Um mal noch einen fesselnden deutschsprachigen Text in die Runde zu werfen:

Leopold von Sacher Masoch - Die Liebe des Plato

Bereits 1870 erschienen, ist dieser Briefroman eine ziemlich spannende Schilderung von Mann/Mann Liebe.

In ihr lernen wir - aus dessen Briefen an seine Mutter- Henryk von Tornow kennen, einen jungen Mann, der seine Militärzeit beginnt, sich jedoch nie mit den Umgangsformen dieser Männergemeinschaft anfreunden kann und zu den meisten seiner Kameraden auf Distanz bleibt.
Er stürzt sich auf die Lektüre klassischer Literatur, bekommt den Spitznamen Plato – und beharrt auf seiner Weigerung, eine körperliche Beziehung zu einer Frau zuzulassen.
Eine arrangierte Ehe kommt nicht zustande, in der russischen Fürstin Nadescha begegnet er einer Frau, die auf ihn große Faszination ausübt, doch ist er überzeugt: Die wahre Liebe kann nur geistig sein und zwischen Männern stattfinden. Als er aus diesem Gedanken heraus auch die Fürstin zurückweist, erreicht ihn ein Brief, in dem Anatol, der ihm unbekannte Bruder der Moskowiterin eine mitternächtliche Begegnung vorschlägt – und er beginnt eine heimliche Beziehung zu diesem Mann - nicht ahnend, dass es sich hierbei um die als Mann verkleidete Nadescha handelt. Natürlich geht das ganze nicht gut; die zwei beginnen einen Streit und Henryk sucht sich einen anderen Weg...

Insgesamt eine absolute Leseempfehlung; nicht nur eine großartige Novelle - es ist auch allein spannend, wie das Thema im 19. Jahrhundert angegangen wurde.

Außerdem sollte es für alle "Werther"-Fans sowieso zur Pflichtlektüre werden

Sacher-Masoch nimmt Goethe in schwul auf, variert aber gekonnt und bringt diverse Anspielungen auf den Großmeister unter.

Für alle, die gerne Lyrik lesen, kann ich übrigens noch eine gut gemachte Anthologie in die Runde werfen:

Das Buch von Sacher-Masoch hab ich mir gleich mal in unser Uni-Bibliothek bestellt. Und wieder was gelernt. Hatte mir vorher nie Gedanken gemacht, warum Masochismus eigentlich Masochismus heisst.

...das ist übrigens eine ganz unfaire Nummer: Aufgrund dessen wurde irgendwann die Gleichung Sacher-Masoch = Schweinkram aufgestellt und ein verdammt guter Schriftsteller kam komplett in den "Giftschrank".
