Leserunde in english:
Book reading group is the english expression used by The New York Times.
Barbara Pym: "Excellent women" in English - starting date: 13 March

Add me too, please! March is just a fine date (I do hope I will manage)
-
I knew there was someone missing!
(And I very nearly entered you on the list under another name just now........... )Imeneo - thank you! Yes, that's a possibility... and I've wondered about "reading circle"... but somehow these are all names for a group that meets and reads together, rather than a thread in a forum. For example, you can tell someone to go and read the "Leserunde" that took place last month, but could you tell them to go and read the "book reading group"? That's why I like Beatrix's "discussion" better.

don't you dare I would have gotten you to change it again - hehe
-
Sounds interesting. I think I might join you.

Ha! The postman rang twice this morning and brought a small parcel from BOL. It was "Excellent women"! *yippie!* I already had a first look into it and I am very curious about our first english discussion. BTW: The author looks quite respectable. I hope the book will not be as respectable as the author looks like
-
From the pictures on the web, she looks like a very respectable English lady indeed...
I just had a look on Amazon; my book was supposedly sent off on 31 January, so I hope it won't be long before it gets here...
-
It has arrived!
I think the lady on the cover looks friendly enough, but what is it she's holding into the camera? It's either a very evil looking lap dog, or a very distinguished cat... but whatever it is, it doesn't look too keen on having its picture taken.
The book has 27 chapters - should we divide it into three sections, ie chapters 1-9, 10-18, and 19-27? I'd like to send the form off to our admins asap so that they can include us excellent women (is it really ladies only so far??) in the "Leserundenvorschau". Who knows but it might bring us some more participants.
-
I think my book is different from yours, because I can't find a picture except the one from the coverfront. And there is definitively no animal.
three sections is ok imo, the chapters aren't so long to need more.
-
I think, I have the same one as my pirate-sister. It is a cat (and the author) on the photo and it definitely looks grumpy.
-
I've got this one - except the colours on the cover look even more like those typically English front doors in all kinds of ... how do you say "Bonbonfarben"?
-
candycolored?
I'm glad to have the pig-pink-penguin edition from 1980
-
Ich habe den Termin 13. März jetzt in der Leserundenvorschau eingetragen, sollte sich da etwas ändern, informiert uns bitte
-
danke!
-
Thank you, dear cloud
I've seen, Amazon needs about 14 days to deliver the book. That means, I have to order it soon.
-
I have not yet received my copy (;-)) but to divide it into 3 sections sounds ok with me.
-
@ geli
When you are going to order the book via buch.de or bol.de it will only cost EUR 11,61 - amazon wants to have ca. EUR 13,50 for it, but there you have to pay no freight charges for books.
bol.de despatched within ca. 10 days against invoice (*ooops*, that reminds me that I still have to arrange payment... :grin)
-
I ordered it at libri.de for only 10,99 €. But I had to order some more books to avoid costs of delivery. About 3 weeks and it is mine
-
It has arrived (at last) - hooray.
Now I am really looking forward to March 13th
By the way: the cat does look funny (and what can I say... I could not resist and just read the first page... I like her style of writing already. Thanks for mentioning that author & book!)
-
a quick reminder for those of you who haven't got the book yet... only one week to go!!!
